Winter Cleaning and Cleansing

Finally had some time to frame up some of my artwork collection and hang it today,
I decided to hang it in the corner of the kitchen... I'm always re-decorating so I can't say how long it will hang there...
Art by Obey Giant Line Juhl Hansen, Avive, Juan Estrella, Michelle Smith Lewis and Retro Whale.
I'm sure I'll be adding more as I have plenty more small art pieces!

I also had garden fever or maybe just the Winter Blues so I went out and did some winter yard clean up...
Just pulling weeds and cleaning out the Veggie bed,a lot nicer to look at.

Along with cleaning up the yard and house I'm feeling I need to get back into my healthy eating, I tend to slack off in the Winter when I'm not growing our own food, For lunch I made a delicious Spinach Salad with Turkey, Cutie Oranges, Tomato, Olives, Green Onions and Feta.....YUM!
Feeling much better after eating fresh, Organic Food. I think I need a good cleansing of the body and soul...

Today's Portraits of some of the feathered and furry friends that I live with...

My Beautiful Boy "Piper"  his tail is coming in quit lovely, like a big firework display!

and his lady "Peanut" looking so pretty
and of course Boris the English Bull Terrier posing for a cookie.
"Olive" the Bunny, "Fred" and "Fern" the goldfish weren't cooperating for the photo shoot, so they aren't pictured... maybe next time!

Black Tile Inspiration

I've been wanting to add a back splash to the kitchen, behind the stove and prep area for some time now, I just can't decide on what I want...
I do so LOVE the Black Subway Tile..I image it flat black with black grout...
then again I LOVE the Hexagon shape tiles....
Here's some inspiration pictures online (random sites) from the web.
I love the black walls in the photo above, I currently have black walls in my office, in fact I use a lot of black in the Home Decor..
This one is my favorite..it's a black/gray Slate brick tile... just beautiful!

The Hex tile (below) is fabulous!

Love it on the bathroom floor...
So many choices!
Do you have a favorite tile that you always wanted?

Easy No Bake Dog Treats

This is such a great recipe!  And the best.... No oven required!

PEANUT BUTTER & OAT DOG TREAT BALLS

Ingredients:

- 1/2 cup milk, low or fat free
- 1 cup peanut butter, natural or organic
- 3 cups rolled oats

Instructions:

1. Combine the first two ingredients in a large bowl and stir well
2. Slowly mix in the oats, about a 1/2 cup at a time (The mixture will be very thick!)
3. Scoop out the peanut butter balls and roll with damp hands to create a uniform ball shape (approx. 1″ diameter)
4. Place on a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
5. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
Makes approximately 32 balls

Tips & Techniques:

Natural peanut butter - Regular peanut butter does not have as much moisture as the natural and organic varieties. If you choose to use a regular peanut butter you may need to add more milk to help the mixture hold together.

Milk - If your dog is sensitive to dairy products, you can use soy or other nut milks in place of the cows milk.

Storing

These peanut butter dog treats will last in the refrigerator for up to 3 weeks. You can freeze them for up to 4 months.

Painting Progress

I started on the portrait of Boris
Here's the progress after working on it in the studio all day...

the stencil and first coat of background texture

background colors and first coat of gray
adding turquoise to the background and the first layer of the stencil (black)
added 2nd stencil (white) and 3rd layer (gray)
added 4th stencil (medium gray) and more background depth
added 5th stencil (dark gray) and touch ups
This is where I left off today and am now deciding if I want to add more to the background or leave it as is...

What are your thoughts?
